Athena Welsh Earns MAC Runner of the Week Honors

Toledo, Ohio – Junior Athena Welsh was named the Mid-American Conference Women's Runner of the Week. This is the second time this season Welsh has earned the honor.
Welsh received the honor after clinching first place at the All-Ohio Championships with a 21:01.5 6K time. Welsh's finish also helped the Toledo women's squad to a team victory with 27 points.
The Rockets placed two in the top five with Welsh leading the way and senior Jennifer Lichter following close behind to secure second (21:24.0). Senior Petronela Simiuc took sixth overall (21:47.6) and sophomore Michelle Hostettler took tenth overall (21:57.3).
Next up for the Rockets is the Bradley Pink Classic, hosted by Bradley University. Competition will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 in Peoria, Ill.
