Rockets Closing Out Fall Season at Saint Mary's Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo closes out its fall campaign with a trip to the West Coast for the 12th-annual Saint Mary's Invitational on Monday-Wednesday, Nov. 6-8. The three-day event will be played at the par-71, 7,002-yard Poppy Hills Golf Course. The 54-hole tourney will consist of a tee time start beginning at 7:30 a.m. (PT) each day.

THE FIELD
• Eighteen schools are participating in the Saint Mary's Invitational.
• Joining Toledo in the event will be seven programs ranked in the Top 50 of Golfstat's rankings, headlined by No. 13 Stanford, No. 20 Santa Clara, No. 21 Colorado State, No. 24 BYU, No. 33 Southern Cal, No. 46 Arizona and No. 50 Saint Mary's (Calif.). Also participating are UC-Irvine, UC-Santa Barbara, Fresno State, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Francisco, Texas-Arlington and Washington State.

ROCKETS AT THE SAINT MARY'S INVITATIONAL
• Toledo is participating in the Saint Mary's Invitational for the second-straight year. The Rockets posted a 13th place-finish last year, notching a 63-over par 613 (303-310-302). Thomas Thurloway paced UT at nine-over par 222 (72-76-74) to finish tied for 18th place. San Diego State (299-280-274) won the tournament title at one-over par 853.
• UT's lineup this weekend will include senior Colin Joseph at #1, senior Stephen Watts at #2, junior Duncan McNeill at #3, sophomore Thomas Thurloway at #4 and sophomore Joe Bryce at #5. Junior Spencer Shoemaker is competing as an individual.
• Bryce leads the Rockets with a 73.4 stroke average in five rounds and is followed by Joseph (73.5/8 rds.), Shoemaker (73.8/5 rds.), Watts (74.2/11 rds.) and McNeill (74.5/11 rds.)

LOOKING BACK AT THE CROOKED STICK INVITATIONAL
• Toledo placed ninth at the Crooked Stick Invitational at 28-over par 892 (305-288-299). The Rockets' even-par 288 in the second round marked the fourth occasion that UT shot par or better.
• Stephen Watts was Toledo's top finisher by tying for 23rd place at five-over par 221 (76-70-75). Watts has led or shared the team lead in an event on two occasions this fall.
• Junior Duncan McNeill (74-73-76) and sophomore Thomas Thurloway (74-74-75) were one stroke behind Watts and tied for 28th place at seven-over par 223 (74-73-76).
• Colin Joseph tied for 44th place at 11-over par 227 (83-71-73).
ON THE HORIZON
• UT will open its spring season by competing in the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play Championship on Monday-Tuesday, Feb. 12-13 in Dade City, Fla.
