Toledo Travels to Oxford for Mid-American Conference Championships

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo women's cross country team travels to Oxford, Ohio for the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28 at noon.
The Rockets will look to build on a fifth-place, 127-point finish in last year's conference meet. Toledo returns four of its top five runners from a year ago, including senior Joan Jepkirui who took 18th place (21:58.2) in 2016.
Also returning for UT is senior Stephanie Barlow, sophomore Athena Welsh and junior Jennifer Lichter. This trio recorded 27th-place, 28th-place and 31st-place finishes last year, respectively.
Last time in competition, Welsh led the Midnight Blue & Gold with a 78th-place finish in the Pre-National Invitational. Jepkirui also placed in the top 100 with a 94th-place mark.
No. 25 Eastern Michigan has won back-to-back MAC Championships and returns All-American Jordann McDermitt. McDermitt won the individual championship at last year's conference meet.
Qualifying runners will move on the the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 10 in Terre Haute, Ind.
