CLEVELAND, OH - Toledo's Agata Forkasiewicz has been named Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Forkasiewicz started the Thundering Herd Invitational by breaking a 24-year old record in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.30 seconds. The prior record was 7.42 seconds, set in 1992 by Sherrell Wimbs. Forkasiewicz's new record was also a meet record, a facility record and puts her in the top 10 in the country for 60m times this season.
The Wroclaw, Poland native also won the 200-meter dash in 24.08 seconds. Her time in the event ranks third in the MAC this season and qualifies her for the MAC Championships at the end of the season. The junior sprinter has won every race she has competed in at Toledo.
Forkasiewicz joins Joan Jepkirui as Runner of the Week selections this winter.Â
The Rockets go to South Bend, IN for the Meyo Invitational on Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4.
