Isa Echeverri Named Third Team All-Great Lakes Region

TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo's Isa Echeverri has been named third team All-Great Lakes Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The junior midfielder finished second on the team with 11 points, comprised of four goals and three assists. She scored goals in three-straight matches against Indiana State, Kent State and the match-winning goal over Ohio. Her final goal of the season was the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Northern Illinois.
Echeverri played in and started 17 of UT's 19 matches and her 45 shots was second-most on the squad.
The Medellin, Colombia native was named first team All-Mid-American Conference after the season. This was her third-consecutive all-conference nod after being named to the second team in each of her first two seasons.
Echeverri missed the first two matches with the Rockets after competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics with her home country. She played the 45-minute second half in a 2-2 draw with the heavily favored United States.
Echeverri is one of 10 MAC athletes to make an all-region team. Central Michigan's Alexis Pelafas and Eliza Van de kerkhove, Kent State's Jenna Hellstrom and Ball State's Lorina White were named first team. Kent State's Abbie Lawson and Ball State's Alyssa Heintschel and Leah Mattingly received second team honors. Kent State's Ashleah McDonald and Donavan Capehart and Western Michigan's Elizabeth Abro joined Echeverri on the third team.
