TOLEDO, OH - Former University of Toledo women's soccer standout Rachel MacLeod has been named the Director of Operations at Scott Park, two-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Brad Evans recently announced. MacLeod will coordinate or assist in various administrative areas, including budget management, on-campus recruiting, team travel, videotaping and summer camps.
"We're very fortunate to have Rachel in this position," Evans said. "She has a strong work ethic and desire to learn. Rachel will provide effective assistance to all of us at Scott Park."
A two-time first-team all-league honoree, MacLeod wrapped up her collegiate career second in UT annals in shots (221), tied for second in scores (33) and helpers (17) and third in total points (83). She is one of only two players in program history to garner first-team all-conference accolades on two occasions.
This past fall, MacLeod finished second in the league in match-winning scores (4), tied for second in shots (72), third in goals (12) and fourth in total points (27) en route to earning first-team All-MAC recognition. Her totals also sit third in school history in markers and shots and fourth in total points in the single-season record book. The Westerville, OH native found the back of the net on nine occasions, including a collegiate-best three scores in a victory against nationally ranked Pepperdine.
As a junior, MacLeod battled the injury bug for much of the season but still paced the squad in scores (5), helpers (3), total points (13), shots (42) and match-winning scores (2).
In 2011, MacLeod was selected the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, becoming only the second Rocket to capture the prestigious award (Molly Cornwell in 2007 & 2008). A third-team NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region selection, she led the conference in total points (31), tallies (11) and match-winning goals (6), as well as tying for first in helpers (9). MacLeod registered points in 15 contests, including the lone goal in UT's 1-0 shutout victory vs. Western Michigan in the MAC Tournament Finals (Nov. 6).
As a freshman, MacLeod finished third on the team with 12 points (five goals, two assists), tying for eighth in the MAC in shots (43) and tied for 10th in scores. She also became the second Rocket to earn MAC Freshman of the Year accolades, joining current assistant coach Vicki Traven in 2008.
MacLeod graduated from UT with a degree in marketing this past May.
