Gyurgyik's selection marks the second time this season that a Rocket has been picked as the MAC Offensive Player of the Week. Fellow senior frontrunner Kristen Lynn also won the offensive award following the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 3.
Gyurgyik is receiving this award for the first time in her career after scoring goals in both matches this past weekend, helping UT start the MAC 2-0-0 for the fourth time in the last six seasons. In Friday's conference opener at Northern Illinois, Gyurgyik tallied the "Golden Goal" in the 97th minute to extend the Rockets' unbeaten streak to 10-consecutive matches (8-0-2) in the series. Two days later against MAC Tournament finalist Western Michigan, Gyurgyik opened the scoring with her fifth goal of the season in the 16th minute.
The Mayfield Heights, OH native has now tallied points in a career-high three consecutive contests and in six of the 10 matches this fall. She currently ranks second on the team in goals (5) and total points (13) and tied for second in assists (3).
Gyurgyik and the MAC West Division leading Rockets return to action next weekend when they travel to arch-rival Bowling Green on Friday, Sept. 30 at 4:00 p.m. and at Miami on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1:00 p.m.
