Head Coach Brad Evans
“Notre Dame is No. 1 for a reason. They are a very talented team. That being said, I think we gave up some uncharacteristically easy goals. But overall, I thought we played very well. Our theme coming in to tonight was, ?We're going to be here all night.' We were going to compete until the end and play the way we know how to play. I thought we did a good job in the second half. I'm really proud of the effort and the focus of our team.”
"A team like that puts you under pressure for so long. It takes intense focus to stay with the game for that long."
"We've got great people in this program that take a lot of pride in what they do. That's why we have had the success we've had."
"We didn't quit. We kept after it and created some chances. It says something that we scored in the last minute of the game."
Junior Forward Molly Cornwell
(on her goal) "It was a free kick. I was just trying to place it upper 90, right side, and that's what I did. I knew that if we got any shots within 30 yards I would be shooting it straight in."
"They out-shot us but we had a lot of opportunities. We made a couple of minor mistakes when they scored, which set us back. But we left it all out there, which is what we came to do."
(three-goal deficit) "I don't think it changed the way we played. One of our sayings was, 'We're here to play the whole night,' and we did. We played hard the entire night."
Senior Midfielder Tara Witt
(Second-half performance) "We knew we were in a three-goal hole, but we knew we had 45 minutes to play and we were going to give it everything we had until the last whistle. We have big hearts out there. We play for each other. We were going to fight until the end."
(on GK Vicki Traven) "She did great considering the pressure that was on her, a freshman facing the number-one team in the country. She made some great saves. We couldn't be more proud of her."
(on the departing seniors) "We were a unique group. We weren't the most highly recruited players. But we play for each other and we always have. It was great to go out there one last time."
