Today's loss drops
UT is now 0-4 at home. The four-game home losing streak is the longest since a four-game skid over the 1977-78 campaigns.
Today's loss was the Rockets' fourth consecutive to the Chippewas in the all-time series. Prior to its recent skid against its West Division rivals, UT had won 10 straight over the Chippewas.
Today marked the fifth time in Head Coach Tom Amstutz's tenure that a game was decided by one point. The Rockets are 3-2 in those contests.
Junior QB Aaron Opelt completed 16-of-26 passes for 216 yards and one TD. It was Opelt's first TD pass since the
Senior WR Nick Moore caught seven passes for a game-high 105 yards, including a 35-yard TD reception in the third quarter. It was
Junior PK Alex Steigerwald kicked three field goals in today's contest, including a 45 yarder in the first quarter. This marked Steigerwald's third game this season and fourth of his career with three field goals. He is now 5-of-6 in field-goal attempts over 40 yards in 2008.
Junior RB DaJuane Collins carried the ball 19 times for a game-high 94 yards, including a five-yard TD scamper in the second quarter. Collins leads the team with 557 yards and five TD's on the season.
Senior TE John Allen caught five passes for 53 yards, including a 23-yarder in the third quarter.
Junior ROV Lester Richmond was selected as a game captain and finished with two tackles.
Junior DT Maurice Hill made his first start of the season and tallied a season-high four tackles, including one tackle for loss. Hill has now started 14 games in his career.
Sophomore LB Archie Donald led the Rockets and tied his career high with 12 tackles. Donald has now recorded double-digit stops in four-consecutive games and paces the team with 73 stops for the season.
Junior LB Daris Quinn tallied a career-best 11 tackles, surpassing his previous best effort of eight stops vs.
Junior DE Skylaar Constant recorded a career-best 10 tackles, bettering his previous best effort of eight stops vs. Florida International on Sept. 27.
Junior C Buster Garrett returned to the starting lineup after backing up sophomore Nate Cole the last four games, while recovering from a leg injury. Garrett has started three games this season and 10 contests in his career.
Redshirt freshman P Bill Claus punted the ball twice, averaging a career-best 44.0 yards per kick. Claus has now averaged over 40.0 yards per punt over the last three contests.
