Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Head Coach Stan Joplin

(on the game)

"We're obviously happy with the win. Nobody could score early on and it looked like both teams we're feeling each other our. Our freshmen really gave us a shot in the arm when they came in. Our defensive effort was pretty good and I thought we played well as a team offensively."

(on the team's inside play)

"Jerrah Young can play even better than he did tonight. When we can have him and Tino both playing well inside that really helps us because it opens things up for our guards."

Sophomore forward Jerrah Young

(on providing a spark off the bench and giving Florentino Valencia help inside)

"It was very important for me to do that. Tino's been doing a lot for us and I've been in a little bit of a slump. I just know it's my job to come in and give him a break and pick up where he left off. He's been doing a great job for us all season."

(on the game being a must-win game)

"We knew things have been real tough for us, but we've just stuck it out and tried to keep our confidence. We knew Kent State was a very good team and to beat them sends a very big statement to the rest of the teams in the MAC."

(on getting off to a good start)

"I got going early and once you play well from the beginning it builds your confidence. The game just seems to come to you better."

Freshman guard Jonathan Amos

(on the team's play that led to gaining a 20-point lead)

"I think we played very well for the whole 40 minutes. Some nights we slack off a little and play well for 30, 35 or 38 minutes. Tonight we just gave it our all and battled it out to get the win."

(on the team peaking after slumping some)

"I think we're really start to come around. We're starting to peak right now and with Jerrah and the rest of the guys playing well off the bench really helps."

(on getting the win going into the Bowling Green game)

"It just builds our confidence. We can't get too high though. We need to just stay level-headed and just go into Saturday's game with the right mindset."
