Notes
Head Coach Stan Joplin
"I thought our defense was pretty good in the first half except we fouled too much. I thought we were in control of the game for the most part. We wanted to go inside and we did that with Tino having a good night down low."
(on the good passes to set up baskets)
"We got some penetration and that set up a lot of things for us. We went from inside to out. I really like the fact that Keonta Howell was shooting uncontested threes. Our guards did a nice job of drop-off passes and that helps a lot."
(on Keonta Howell's shooting the last five games)
"He's been taking what the defense is giving him and it's helped him that we're getting the ball into the post and swinging the ball. If we can continue to play that way that's really going to help him."
Junior guard Keonta Howell
(on his three-point shooting and getting in a groove)
"I've tried to get in the gym and shooting as many shots as I can. It's hard to do that during the season but whenever I have some time I try to get in early before the game starts to get my shot right. I was struggling with it early in the season but now I seem to be getting the repetitions in and it's helping."
"It helped me tonight with Tino scoring down low and everybody gravitating toward him. It helped me to set up my shot."
Junior forward Florentino Valencia
(on the interior passing helping tonight)
"It makes it a lot easier for me because I don't really try to shoot a shot outside of my range. I just want to get layup and it's easy when my teammates are looking to get me the ball in good position."
