Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Toledo Head Coach Stan Joplin

"I really liked our energy and defensive effort. It was a lot better than our first meeting with Ball State. We competed with a sense of urgency and made them work for everything. I was shocked that (Skip) Mills didn't take very many shots in the first half. He can explode on you and we wanted to make him work for his points."

Junior guard Justin Ingram

(on getting back to .500 in the MAC)

"It feels good to be back to .500 in the MAC. We've been working real hard in practice and that's paying off. We knew were better than a 1-6 team and we just had to keep our heads up and try to make a run at the end of the season. It feels great to be back at .500 after starting out the way we did."

(on the team's aggressiveness)

"We wanted to be strong with the ball and try to get as many deflections and steals as we could because they were more aggressive than us in our loss at Ball State.

Freshman guard Tyrone Kent

(on scoring a season-high 16 points)

"I just tried to come out and play hard and play good defense. We just wanted come away with the win."

(on not knowing when he's going to play coming off the bench)

"You have to play hard in practice and keep working on your game. You never know when you're going to get in a game."

Ball State Head Coach Tim Buckley

"We had a very poor start and Toledo is a good team at home and you can't give them that opportunity. We were sluggish in the warmup and in our focus and preparation to begin the basketball game. It's a mindset and we've talked constantly about that. If you don't come in focused it's difficult to re-focus and we have to get better in that area.

"Toledo turns you over and they are very aggressive. They're very quick and anticipate very well. Not to take anything away from Toledo, but I thought we were tentative and didn't attack their pressure the way you need to. They gained some momentum from that early in the ball game and carried that throughout the game. They turned our turnovers into baskets."
