Toledo claimed its first MAC title with the 2-1 victory over Northern Illinois.
The Rockets have participated in the league tourney four times in the 12-year history of the program, and Sunday's match marked their first trip to the finals.
Seniors Jen Whipple and Kirsty Wilson, junior Candice Choquette and freshman Ali Leak were named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
Toledo's victory was the second by a higher-seeded team in the 2006 MAC Tournament. The other win came on Friday in UT's 1-0 overtime triumph over Miami in the semifinals.
UT is now 3-2-1 (.583) in MAC Tournament play.
Toledo finished the season with a 5-1-3 record at home and is 11-3-3 at Scott Park over the last two years.
UT went 3-0-0 in the MAC Tournament, downing the fourth, seventh and eighth seeds by a combined 6-1 score. The Rockets were 1-1-1 against the three teams in the regular season, with a win against Northern Illinois, a loss to Bowling Green and a tie to Miami.
Freshman Molly Cornwell scored her team-best sixth goal of the season in the first half. Cornwell also has five assists in her rookie campaign for a team-high 17 points.
Freshman Ali Leak was credited with both assists in today's win. Leak finished the MAC Tournament as UT's leading point scorer totaling six points (two goals, two assists). The Pickerington, OH native tallied a goal against both Bowling Green and Miami and had two assists versus the Huskies.
The Rockets lead the all-time series with Northern Illinois, 7-4-0, and have held the edge as of late, winning seven of the last eight, including a 3-0 victory earlier this season at home.
Northern Illinois' MAC Tournament record falls to 7-2-0 (.778) and is now 2-1 in the conference finals.
