Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

Toledo Head Coach Tom Amstutz

"We can't afford so many turnovers and we can't afford to give up field position like we did tonight. We have to eliminate those mistakes. We can't have those kinds of mistakes."

"We had a lot of yards so there are some positive things there. We just have to build off that."

"I thought Aaron was sharp early and we moved the ball. But when you play a good team like Central you can't afford turnovers."

"Their quarterback did a nice job. He's very accurate and he had a good command of the game."

(Aaron Opelt) "He's a pretty good football player. We just have to give him a little more help out there. We have to ask some players to step up and make plays and hang on to the football."

"We're used to winning and we're going to get back on the winning track. It starts with attitude and getting back to work."

WR Steve Odom

"We just have to make the plays. That's all I can say. We just have to get back to work in practice and concentrate."

LB Mike Alston

"We could have done more on defense. We could have forced turnovers ourselves. Our goal was to force five turnovers and score twice on defense. We didn't achieve those goals. We didn't control them on third down. We had them on third and long a couple of times and let them get the first down by penalty or a missed tackle. We have to control third down if we're going to be more successful."

QB Aaron Opelt

"We started out hot, scoring on our first two possessions. But then they made great plays and we didn't make enough plays. We just have to keep it going for a whole game."

CMU Head Coach Brian Kelly

(opening comments)

"Even though we were down 14-0 our players didn't get off our gameplan and fought through the adversity. I give Toledo credit for getting off to a good start and they're a tough team to beat at home. Daniel Bazuin's touchdown at the end of the first half gave us great momentum and was a big key to the game."

(on coming from behind after being down 14-0)

"It was important for us to get that first score. I thought what really broke Toledo's back was Obed Cetoute's touchdown reception that gave us a 28-14 lead at the end of the fourth quarter. He's really been working hard after losing his starting position early in the season."

(on the running game)

"Being able to run the ball is very important to our offense. Anytime you can keep a team off balance that gives you more of a chance to be successful. Everybody ran hard for us tonight and that makes us a much better team."
