Notes
Quarterback Clint Cochran
"I think anybody put in this situation is going to be a little nervous. I felt like my teammates did a good job picking me up. We came out thinking we could win this game. Unfortunately, things didn't work out."
"Bruce (Gradkowski) was always there for me, going over film, helping me get ready. He's a great team player and a great guy."
(Early success) "We drove down and scored. Everybody was on a high. We felt like we could play with these guys at that point."
Linebacker Anthony Jordan
"I feel like we started well defensively but we could have been a little stiffer in there. Fresno State has a great team, but I don't think this game was representative of how our defense can play. We know we can play better and we will."
"They pound the ball on the ground and then work the passing game in there. We allowed too many big plays. They have a lot of weapons."
"We went through a down spell last year and bounced back and won the MAC Championship."
"Clint Cochran did a great job under the cicumstances but we need seven (Gradkowski) out there.
Head Coach Tom Amstutz
"Clint is going to be a very good football player some day. That's a redshirt freshman in his first start. We just didn't get him enough help. The two fumbles and the long kickoff returns that gave them a short field really hurt us. Field position and turnovers was the difference in the football game."
"Our players played hard. But when you give a team like Fresno State fumbles and short field, it's going to hurt you."
"We have to rebound and get our focus back together."
"Obviously you're going to miss a quarterback like Bruce. But that wasn't the difference in the game."
"We need Bruce for our next seven games. But if he could have played he would have."
