Head Coach Stan Joplin
"It was nice to bounce back and get a win after our Northern Illinois game. I hate playing Division II teams because this is a highlight game for them. The GLIAC is one of the top Division II conferences in the country and I respect the teams that are in that league. We held them off and made some plays down the stretch and we got ourselves a win."
(on using more full-court pressure)
"We wanted to come out a little more aggressive. We had some success using a press against Northern Illinois so we thought we'd use it again to get our juices flowing. Hopefully, we'll be able to wear some people down and make them play at a faster pace while still maintaining our halfcourt defense."
Senior guard Sammy Villegas
(on making some plays at key times after struggling a little bit this year)
"You just keep playing. The harder you play something good is going to happen. You just keep focused on playing for the team."
(on mindset going into game against a Division II team)
"We were their highlight game of the year and they wanted to come here and beat us. We came up with the big plays when we needed to. They definitely play hard and played a good game."
(on forcing a lot of turnovers but Ferris shooting a high percentage)
"It's nice to get turnovers for us but anybody can make wide open shots and that's what was happening. They were driving and kicking the ball out and we were helping too much."
Junior guard Justin Ingram
(on scoring 10 points in last 10 minutes and producing when the game's close)
"I feel I'm the leader of this team and if things go bad I take it that it's my fault. When we need a key basket I try to pass it to an open teammate or penetrate it and kick it to an open teammate. I enjoy pressure and my dad and I have worked on pressure situations since I was a little kid."
(on getting back on winning track after losing last Saturday to NIU)
"It was very big since we kind of laid an egg last week to Northern Illinois. Good teams bounce back and we wanted to come out and play hard
because we knew Ferris was going to come out and play hard. This home stretch is huge for us."
