TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Trinity Dawson rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown and
Astin Martin ran for two scores to lead Toledo past Western Michigan 34-17
Saturday night.
The Rockets (8-3, 6-1 Mid-American Conference) stayed tied with No. 22
Bowling Green for first place in the league's West Division. The rivals play
Nov. 29 at Bowling Green, and the winner hosts East winner Miami of Ohio in the
MAC title game Dec. 4.
Toledo never trailed but needed 14 points in the fourth quarter to put away
the Broncos (5-7, 4-4).
Bruce Gradkowski threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Steve Odom to give the
Rockets a 27-17 lead with 6:34 remaining. Martin scored on a 1-yard run with
2:32 to play.
Gradkowski finished 22-of-33 for 225 yards and two interceptions. Odom had
111 yards receiving on eight catches.
Kendrick Mosley caught 10 passes for 130 yards for Western Michigan. Jon
Drach completed 24 of 35 passes for 262 yards with one touchdown and two
interceptions.
Dawson's 4-yard TD run gave Toledo a 14-3 lead with 1:53 left in the second
quarter. The Broncos cut it to 14-10 about a minute later on Drach's 14-yard TD
pass to Anthony Kiner.
Martin gave Toledo a 20-10 lead with a 3-yard TD run with 6:35 remaining in
the third. Western Michigan pulled within 20-17 on Daniel Marks' 1-yard run.
