TOLEDO, Ohio - Bruce Gradkowski passed for 289 yards and three scores
and Trinity Dawson scored three touchdowns as Toledo beat Eastern Michigan
49-14 Saturday night.
Gradowski threw TD passes of 8 yards to Dawson, 12 yards to Steve Odom and
19 yards to Terrance Hudson in the second quarter, when the Rockets (4-2, 2-0
Mid-American Conference) scored 28 points to take a 42-7 lead.
Gradkowski was 22-26 (84.6%) in the first half, his best completion percentage in a half this season.
Anthony Sherrell rushed 26 times for 123 yards and a touchdown for the
Eagles (1-6, 0-3), who allowed 35 consecutive points after tying the score
midway through the first quarter.
Eastern Michigan made it 7-7 when Chris Roberson caught a 4-yard TD pass
from Chineda Okoro. Dawson scored on a 1-yard run to give Toledo a 14-7 lead
with four seconds left in the first.
Astin Martin's 1-yard run was the first of Toledo's four touchdowns in the
second quarter.
Dawson also had a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Odom
returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown in the third. Gradkowski completed 23
of 30 passes without an interception.
UT is now 22-1 in its last 23 games in the Glass Bowl. The Rockets have won five straight at home since a 27-13 loss to Miami on Oct. 26, 2002.
Toledo travels to Central Michigan next week and then to Ball State on Oct. 25.
