Rockets Outgun Cal Poly, 44-16, In Season Opener

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Brian Jones passed for 197 yards and two touchdowns as Toledo beat Cal Poly 44-16 Thursday night in the season opener for both teams.
William Bratton had 105 yards on 17 carries for Toledo, including a 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. The Rockets rushed for 262 yards and three touchdowns.
Astin Martin scored on a 17-yard run in the first quarter and Quinton Broussard scored on a 13-yard run in the fourth.
Jones, who finished 12-of-16, threw a 22-yard scoring pass to Carl Ford in the first quarter and a 10-yarder to Chris Holmes in the third.
Cedric Stevens also threw a touchdown pass for the Rockets, connecting with Manny Johnson from 7 yards out in the second quarter.
The Mustangs had 173 total yards. Darrell Jones ran for 27 yards and a touchdown on three carries and caught four passes for 28 yards.
