Final Stats
Quarterback Brian Jones
(on BC defense) "They were big and physical. They did a great job getting around the end. They did a great job getting pressure on me. Give them a lot of credit."
"We got down quick. Their offense didn't miss a beat. The time off didn't hurt them. They were executing very well. They got up early, and it knocked us out of our game plan. Once that happens, it's tough to come back."
"We battled hard all year to get to this point, to get to the Motor City Bowl. So to reach your goal and then not play well is not how you'd like to end your season. It's a tough way to go out but I wish the returning players the best of luck next year."
(Toledo personal fouls) "It's two physical teams battling. We never give up. We got down early and I think we started to get edgy. Things like that happen. It's unfortunate that some of our players threw punches and got ejected. We should be smarter than that."
Linebacker Tom Ward
"They executed their game plan very well. They established the pass on us. We had a few mistakes and they exploited it. They made more plays than us. They have a great football club."
(Toledo personal fouls) "When yo uget down a little bit you get a little frustrated. This team is never going to give up. We've got fight in us. But you have to keep your composure. In some situations we didn't do that. I was disappointed by some of our actions."
Wide Receiver Carl Ford
"Individual stats don't concern me. It feels bad to end the season this way."
Cornerback Brandon Hefflin
"Coming into the game our main objective was to stop the run. They have a good running game. Unfortuntely, they made a few big plays by passing the ball and that got us down early."
Head Coach Tom Amstutz
"I'm still very proud of our team, especially our seniors. They took a team with a bunch of young players that most people thought wouldn't have much of a chance to be successful and molded together a fine football team. Their leadership all year long has been great. I'm sorry our seniors didn't get a chance to go out on a better game."
"Give credit to Boston College. They won the battle up front. Their offensive and defensive lines won that game tonight. Also, their quarterback St. Pierre did a nice job of controlling the game. He threw it down the field, he threw short passes that kept the pressure on us."
"We were a little bit off tonight offensively. We showed some spurts. I thought Carl Ford had an excellent night. But this was not a typical game. We're a better football team than we showed tonight."
(Rough play) "I think it was on both sides. We don't really like to do that. We haven't been in that situation very often."
"We didn't come up with big plays on defense. We didn't have an interception, we didn't recover a fumble. When we did blitz, they picked it up and dumped it off to a back. We never got into a rhythm on defense."
(Talk to players who were ejected?) "It's kind of funny thing. There are some questions I have about the whole thing. Usually if two guys are in a fight, they eject them both or neither one. I have a question about that."
(Dodrill's ejection) "I have no idea about that call. It was a good, hard hit. Possibly he hit him out of bounds and he was ejected. I believe they were just trying to maintain control of the game. But that didn't cause us to get beat. Boston College playing well caused us to get beat."
