Head Coach Stan Joplin:
"We knew it was going to be a tough game today, especially on the road. We wanted to contest their outside jump shots because they've been shooting the ball so well from the perimeter. We didn't want them to get penetration and we wanted to get back in transition. As for ourselves, we wanted to play with some confidence, energy and enthusiasm."
"The only thing we've proven with today's win is that we can win on the road. Let's see if we can do something else. We have pretty good starting power now in the conference and let's see how much staying power we have. I told the team it's a new day and new year and a new beginning for us. Our 3-6 non-conference record is in the past. We didn't play the way we wanted to. We want to deal in the present and our future in the conference."
"The players were very enthusiastic. I thought we were a totally different team today than I've seen in the last month or so. I don't think we've been playing as hard as we should have. I think one reason for that is Philip Alexander, a football player who brought a totally different attitude to practice the last three or four days. He challenged some guys and that was a big shot in the arm for us."
Junior forward Milo Kirsh:
"I haven't been producing the way I should have. It wasn't bothering me like it should have been until the last month. I stepped up and produced and hopefully we can keep this going. The team is practicing hard, and we just had the hardest week of practice since I've been here."
Sophomore guard Terry Reynolds:
"I've been really trying to get my teammates involved early in games this year. But today I came out agressive and kind of kick-started our team. We've been digging ourself a hole in the first half lately, and today I wanted to put the other team in a hole. We were up 14-4 early in the game and they couldn't score. That got us going for the rest of the game."
