TOLEDO, OH -
The University of Toledo and Youngstown
State University have decided not to play their football game
scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 15.
In addition, UT interim Athletic Director Mike Karabin
announced that all Rocket athletic competitions through
Sunday have also been cancelled. Practices will continue
on a normal schedule, Karabin said. The normal event
schedule will resume on Monday, Sept. 17.
"In light of the emerging national consensus, the University
of Toledo and Youngstown State University have decided
not to play the football game scheduled between our two
schools this Saturday," said Karabin.
Said Head Coach Tom Amstutz, "Our country is not quite
ready yet to get back to normal. It's good that all the Division
I football teams are sticking together and taking one stand."
Amstutz added that he will give his players the day off on
Saturday and resume practice on Sunday.
Karabin added that the YSU game will not be rescheduled
because no mutually agreeable make-up date is available.
He added that Toledo has an open date on Oct. 13 and will
attempt to fill that date if another school can play on that
date.
Karabin also said a ticket return policy for individuals who
bought tickets to the game will be announced at a later date.
