Windsor, ONT - The University of Toledo men's track and field team continued its indoor season at the 2000 Windsor Christmas Classic today. The Rockets ran a partial squad at the St. Denis Centre in Windsor, ONT, in preparation for the remainder of the indoor campaign which begins in January.
Toledo senior Lashawn Alexander (Groveport, OH) highlighted UT's individual performances by winning the long jump. Sophomore Chad Ronyetz (Brunswick, OH) finished second in the 1500-meter race for the Rockets. Head Coach Kent Baker feels that the Christmas Classic is a good preparation for the regular indoor season.
"This meet was a low key meet that was also voluntary," said Coach Baker. "We had some good performances, but the goal now is to train and prepare for indoors."
The Toledo men will next race on Jan. 6 when they travel to Ann Arbor, MI to compete in the Michigan Open. The UT women will join the men and also race at the Michigan Open.
