Bob Hayes was a three sport star at UT. He started as a football end in 1938-1940 in teams that were 19-9-1. Hayes lettered in basketball in 1939-1941 on Rocket teams that were 62-19, and he lettered twice in track holding the UT record in the discus throw for many years. After World War II service, Bob was an assistant coach at UT in football, basketball and track, enshrined in the Michigan High School coaches' Hall of Fame after a very successful career as a coach and athletic director at Port Huron, Michigan.
