Ned Miklovic participated in two varsity sports as well as being actively involved in many student organizations. He was co-captain of both the football and basketball teams. As a member of the football team, he was the starting punter and right defensive end, and a receiver on offense. He lettered in 1956-58, serving as co-captain his final season. In his career, Miklovic averaged 36.0 yards per punt and caught three touchdown passes while averaging over 30 minutes per game. However, his best sport proved to be basketball. His first year (1956-57), he was the team's leading rebounder (9.0) and third-leading scorer (7.4). Miklovic's play surged during the latter part of the 1957-58 season, as he finished with an average of 9.8 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. The Rockets were ranked as high as 11th in the AP poll, finished with an 18-6 record and ranked 12th in the nation in scoring defense (58.1). Miklovic finished with 371 career rebounds in MAC games, an average of 8.1 per contest. As an undergraduate, he was elected to the Blue Key and Who's Who In American Universities and Colleges, and recognized as the 19559-60 Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year. Miklovic was also president of the DNW Club and Varsity "T", and highly ranked military student in the ROTC.
