Ken Swartz lettered in 1968-70 for tennis. He won the number 1 singles championship in 1968 and 1970. Called by his coach Brian Eisner "one of the finest tennis players ever to come to Toledo," he had singles records of 11-6, 19-3, and 8-8 for a combined mark of 38-17 and doubles records of 12-5, 18-4, and 8-2 for a combined mark of 38-11. Ken won the Eastern Intercollegiate singles championship as a freshman and was highly ranked in Midwest, Western, and National Juniors tournaments yearly. Swartz led UT to three straight MAC championships, was the only UT player to score the 1969 edition of Outstanding College Athletes of America. Following graduation he won many city, club and other local singles and doubles championships.
