John Schneider won varsity letters as quarterback of the 1965-67 teams. He set 17 new UT and MAC passing and total offense records at that time. Among the records he held were most career passes (626), most completions (311), most yards passing (3,785), most yards total offense (4,355). He also set single game records at the time of 271 yards in a single game and most completions in a single game (22). He finished fourth nationally in total offense in 1967 and was named MAC "Offensive Player of the Year." Drafted for professional football by the Boston Patriots of the old AFL, he signed instead with Winnipeg of the Canadian Football League and started there as quarterback until an arm injury ended his career. After he retired from professional football, he has been with the Lucas County Miami Children's Center in an administrative position.
