Captain of the 1969 MAC Championship team, David Keller is the only Rocket to be named to the National Wrestling Coaches East-West All-Star meet, where he defeated 1972 Olympian Sergio Gonzales. An NCAA semi-finalist and an NCAA Coaches Association All-American in 1968 at 115 lbs., Keller finished fourth in the 1968 Final National Olympic tryout in Greco Roman (114.5 lbs.). Keller was MAC champion at 123 pounds as a senior in 1969, finished fourth as a junior and was runner-up as a sophomore. He was the National YMCA Champion in 1966 and 1967, the Ohio AAU Greco Roman Champion in 1964-66 and 1968, and the Michigan AAU Greco Roman Champion in 1966. He was the only wrestler in school history to win the Midlands Open Tournament.
