David D. Hamlar lettered in football in 1946 and 1947 as a two-way back. He also lettered in basketball and track in 1946. Hamlar led the 1946 Rocket team in scoring with eight TDs and 48 points. He also led the 1947 team with six TDs. He was awarded the Fred Stalcup MVP award in 1947, named All-Ohio in 1946 and averaged over 50 minutes of playing time per game on offense and defense. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1948 and 1949 but chose instead to pursue a dentistry degree.
