Bob Aston was one of the top rebounders in Rocket history, ranking fourth in all-time career boards (10.9 per game). Aston is tied for second in career rebounds in MAC games with an 11.7 average. He currently ranks third and fifth for MAC rebounding average (13.8, 12.7), fourth and sixth in rebounding average (13.2, 12.5), sixth and eighth in rebounds (316, 301), and tenth for rebounds in MAC games (166) during his 1964-66 seasons. Four times he grabbed at least 20 boards in a game, including 25 vs. Kent State on Jan. 26, 1966, tied for the third-most in UT history. In his 1965-66 season Aston led the team in points per game (18.2), rebounds per game (13.2) and field goal percentage ( 52.0, 178-of-342). In his three years on the varsity squad, Aston scored 901 points and grabbed 749 rebounds. He averaged 7.3 points and 6.3 rebounds as a sophomore; 12.9 points and 12.5 rebounds as a junior and 18.3 points and 13.2 rebounds as senior. Aston was also a First Team All-MAC selection and captain in his senior year and a First-Team All-MAC honoree as a junior. In 1966 after graduation, Aston went on to play with the Harlem Globetrotters.
