Bill Fennelly put women's basketball on the map at UT, leading the Rockets to three NCAA Tournament berths and three WNIT berths in seven seasons. Fennelly's teams twice advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, defeating Rutgers in 1991 and Providence in 1992. He was a two-time MAC Coach of the Year and was named the District IV Coach of the Year in 1990-91. Fennelly's record at UT was 166-53, at the time the most wins in school history. His teams were even more impressive in the MAC with a 94-24 record. Under his guidance, the Rockets won 31 straight home games. Since leaving UT, he has built a highly successful program at Iowa State.
