John Servello Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball

Toledo, Ohio— Toledo freshman outfielder John Servello was named to Collegiate Baseball's Freshman All-American team, the publication announced on Tuesday.

Servello hit .343 in 46 games this season, the highest batting average by a Rocket freshman since Mitch Maier in 2001 (.444). He ranked sixth in the MAC in hitting and was highest among all freshman in the conference. He hit two home runs and tallied 29 RBIs and was tied for second on the team with 16 extra-base hits. Earlier this season, Servello registered a 23-game on-base streak and a 19-game hitting streak, both of which are season-highs for Toledo and the longest by a Rocket since 2010. He hit .325 in conference games, highest on the team.

Servello is the first Freshman All-American since AJ Montoya in 2015, who was also the last MAC Freshman of the Year as well. He joins Ball State's Drey Jameson and Kent State's Collin Romel as MAC rookies named to the Freshman All-America team.
