Last Time Out
The Rockets dropped two out of three at Miami last weekend to bring their conference record to 3-3.
Toledo won on Saturday, 8-4, after trailing, 3-1, entering the sixth inning. UT then scored seven runs in the final four frames to come out on top and even the series. Senior
Brad Boss smacked a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh inning to make it 6-4 and give his team the lead for good. Offensively, every starter had a hit on Saturday. Junior
Ross Adolph went 2-for-4 with a home run and a two-run triple, driving in three of the Rockets' runs.
The losses on Friday and Sunday both came in the bottom of the ninth inning on walk-off hits. Toledo fell, 8-7, on Friday on a game-winning RBI single and by a score of 7-6 on Sunday on a walk-off double.
Rocket Notes
- Ross Adolph recorded the 10th triple of his career on Saturday at Miami. He leads all active players in the MAC in career triples and he is tied for third on Toledo's all-time list.
- John Servello enters the weekend with a 14-game hitting streak, the longest by a UT freshman in the last 10 seasons and just the fifth hitting streak of at least 14 games in that span. He has reached base in 18 consecutive games.
- The Rockets have suffered five walk-off defeats this season: vs. Iowa (2/16), at Austin Peay (2/25), at Georgia (3/10), and this past Friday and Sunday at Miami.
- Sam Shutes has earned three different weekly awards this season: MAC Player of the Week following his start against Sacred Hear (3/4), and MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week and CollegeSportsMadness.com MAC Player of the Week after his start at Western Michigan (3/24).
- Shutes has made 47 starts in his career, which is tied for fifth among all active Division I starting pitchers.
- The weather has not been kind to Toledo this season. UT has had four games either canceled or postponed due to inclement weather.
