Toledo, Ohio - The Toledo men's tennis team (3-11) lost 6-1 to Buffalo (7-5) today to close out the opening weekend of Mid-American Conference competition. The loss against the reigning MAC champions comes two days after the Rockets fell 6-1 to Western Michigan.
Â
"I think the guys fought like crazy today," head coach
Al Wermer said after the match. "They showed a lot of resilience for the most part and I think that's how we want to do it in these MAC matches. Our team is on the right track."
Â
UT started the day with juniors
Juan Carranza and
Serjen Olmedo combining in the No. 3 doubles spot to give Toledo one doubles-match victory after going 7-6 (6). Unfortunately, the Rockets' other two pairings couldn't best their opponents.
Â
Toledo's lone point came thanks to sophomore
Danilo Vukotic in the No. 4 singles spot. Vukotic swept his opponent 7-6, 6-4 to earn his fourth singles competition win on the year.
Â
Toledo returns to action Saturday March, 24 for a 2:00 p.m. road match against Ball State.
