Notre Dame, Ind. – The Toledo men's tennis team fell, 7-0, to No. 17 Notre Dame on the road today, giving the Rockets a 1-1 record for the weekend. The loss came two days after the Rockets topped Wayne State 4-3 at home.
Despite the loss, head coach Al Wermer was proud of the the effort he saw from his team.
"This might've actually been our best match so far," Wermer said following the match. "Notre Dame is a top-20 team and they're playing an amazing gauntlet schedule. We fought like bulldogs throughout this match. We saw improvement today, no question."
Toledo's closest match of the day came during No. 2 singles between UT's Luka Vitosevic and the Fighting Irish's Matt Gamble. Vitosevic dropped the first set, but was able to force a third after winning the second set 6-3.
Toledo will next travel to Florida for an alumni match in Lake Nona on Saturday, March 3. The Rockets return to competitive action three days later when they take on Embry-Riddle at 3:30 p.m. in Daytona, Fla.
