Toledo Tops Wright State, Extends Winning Streak To Five Matches

Dayton, Ohio - The University of Toledo's women's tennis team defeated Wright State 4-3 today to extend its winning streak to five matches. With the victory, the Rockets move to 6-2 in dual matches.
"This was a very gritty performance today," head coach Tracy Mauntler said after the victory. "It was tough losing the doubles point knowing how good Wright State has been playing in singles, but I'm really proud with how we responded."
The match was tied at 3-3 after five singles matches and came down to the No. 2 spot between UT's Mimi Kendall-Woseley and WSU's Haily Morgan. Kendall-Woseley swept Morgan, 6-3, 7-5, clinching the victory.
"The more pressure, the better for Mimi as she again showed what she's made of. This was a breakthrough weekend for the program putting back-to-back wins together against great opponents," added Mauntler.
Kokoro Chishaki and Thalita Rodrigues also stood out for UT with two-set victories in their respective singles matches. Perhaps the brightest star on the Rockets' roster though was Dee Dee Leenabanchong. She went a 2-0 in singles play, winning both her matches in straight sets.
With the weekend sweep in hand, Toledo heads home in preparation for a match against Detroit Mercy at Twos Athletic Club in Toledo on Friday.
