Dayton, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team was in action for the third time in four days on Sunday, winning five of six singles matches and the doubles point to secure a 6-1 match victory over Wright State in Dayton.
"The doubles competition was extremely tight; it wasn't pretty but we survived," head coach
Al Wermer said of the victory on Sunday. "We dominated singles, and stayed in the moment all day, what any coach loves to see."
In doubles play, juniors
Luka Vitosevic and
Vince Anzalone earned a 6-4 victory in the No. 2 spot, while junior
Serjen Olmedo and sophomore
Thawin Suksathaporn secured the doubles point for the Rockets with a 7-6(3) victory.
It was truly a dominating day for the Rockets in singles play, earning victories from all but the No. 1 singles position. Junior
Reid Teatsorth secured a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the No. 3 slot, and sophomore
Danilo Vukotic garnered a 6-4, 6-3 triumph to lead the Rockets to victory.
Toledo will return to the court in one week when it visits Columbus, Ohio to face off against Ohio State on Jan. 28. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
