Leonard, Vidourek Named Preseason All-MAC West

Cleveland, Ohio – On Tuesday the Mid-American Conference announced its Preseason All-Conference teams with senior Rachel Vidourek (Oxford, Ohio) and junior Maurissa Leonard (Oregon, Ohio) earning Preseason All-MAC West honors as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Leonard earned All-MAC honorable mention honors last season after setting a school record with 569 digs. The Oregon, Ohio native ranked fourth in the MAC with 4.78 digs per set, which is a mark that is second in school history. The junior libero was one of only five players last year to appear in all 30 games.
Vidourek was a two-time MAC West Division Offensive Player of the Week a season ago and started all 30 matches for the Rockets. Vidourek captured the fourth-best hitting mark in school history with a .314 attack percentage, ranking seventh in the MAC. The Oxford, Ohio native tallied double-digit kills on 15 occasions and paced UT with 86 blocks.
In the preseason poll, the Rockets were picked to finish fourth in the MAC West Division with two first-place votes behind Northern Illinois and Western Michigan with three and Ball State with four first-place votes.
Overall, Miami was picked to win the MAC Regular season title with 10 votes while also garnering eight votes to claim the 2017 MAC Tournament title.
The Rockets open up the 2017 campaign on Friday, Aug. 25 at the Fort Wayne Invitational against SIU Edwardsville.
