Toledo, Ohio – The Toledo volleyball program will tune up for the 2017 season by hosting Oakland University in an exhibition contest on Friday, Aug.18 at 5:00 p.m. inside Savage Arena.
The Rockets return four starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's 16-14 (8-8 MAC) squad that advanced to the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Returning for the Rockets is the senior duo of Saige Thomas (Corpus Christi, Texas) and Rachel Vidourek (Oxford, Ohio) who combined for 41 percent of the team's total kills a season ago. Also returning is junior Maurissa Leonard (Oregon, Ohio) who earned All-MAC Honorable Mention honors after setting a school record with 569 digs.
Along with the returners is a talented freshmen class that was nationally-recognized by PrepVolleyball.com by appearing in the website's High Honorable Mention listing of top incoming freshmen.
Friday's contest will be the lone exhibition match for the Rockets before beginning the 2017 season on Aug. 25 at the Fort Wayne Invitational against SIU Edwardsville. UT will also compete against Quinnipiac and host school Fort Wayne.
