CLEVELAND, Ohio – Toledo softball had six student-athletes earn a spot on the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference squad, the league office announced on Wednesday. Celeste Fidge (Livonia, Mich.), Chandler Rice (Louisville, Ohio), junior Kylie Gross (Heath, Ohio), junior Ashley Rausch (Milford Center, Ohio), junior Samantha Showalter (Lebanon, Ohio) and sophomore Heather Webb (Madisonville, Ky.) were selected due to their outstanding efforts in the classroom, as well as on the field, in 2017.
 
A total of 89 student-athletes were honored with this award. This is the third-consecutive year Fidge and Rice have received this accolade, and the second season Gross, Rausch and Showalter have been honored.
 
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
