KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Junior
Omar Espinosa was the only Rocket to record a victory on Saturday afternoon as Toledo (11-13, 2-5 MAC) fell to Western Michigan (15-7, 6-1 MAC), 6-1, in its last match of the regular season.
Â
"Going into today's match and even in the middle of it, I was sure we had a great chance," said Head Coach
Al Wermer. "We just couldn't close out on our opportunities,"
Â
Espinosa found himself on the losing end of a 6-4 opening set to WMU's Matej Svjetlicic. The Rocket junior found his momentum and powered through to consecutive 6-4, 6-3 set wins to claim his match on court five.
Â
UT's bid to the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships depends on Sunday's league-match outcomes.
