Former Rocket Jared Hoying to Make Major League Baseball Debut with Texas

Arlington, TX - Former Toledo baseball star Jared Hoying has been called up to the Texas Rangers from AAA Round Rock Express. Texas will take on the Los Angeles Angels at 8:05 p.m. at Globe Life Park in Arlington, TX. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.

Hoying was a second-team All-MAC performer in 2010 with the Rockets. Hoying sits second in Toledo history in home runs (34), third in RBI (137) and fourth in doubles (46). The Fort Loramie, OH native was drafted in the 10th round of the 2010 MLB Amateur Draft by Texas. Hoying had played 41 games at AAA Round Rock this season, hitting .319 with seven home runs and 32 RBI.

Mitch Maier was the last Rocket to appear in Major League Baseball. Maier spent parts of five seasons with Kansas City in 2006 and 2008-2012.

The current Rockets are back in action on Wednesday, May 25 at 8:00 p.m. against Northern Illinois during the Mid-American Conference Tournament at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, OH.
