GAME NOTES

South Bend, IN – Toledo (2-13-1) will play its first game above the Mason-Dixon Line this season when it takes on Notre Dame (6-8) on Wednesday, March 16 at 6:05 p.m. at Frank Eck Stadium.

Head coach Cory Mee expects senior RHP Kyle Slack (0-1, 9.00 ERA) to take the mound for the Rockets.  The Fighting Irish expect to throw LHP Michael Hearne (0-0, 3.75).  Slack's last start came against No. 14 Florida State.  The Edwardsburg, MI native picked up the loss after pitching 4.0 innings and allowing one earned run. 

UT returns north after completing an eight-game spring break trip.  The Rockets went 1-7 on the trip, and picked up a victory against Jacksonville.  Senior LHP Ross Achter earned the win for Toledo after throwing 6.0 frames of two-hit baseball while fanning three batters. Senior OF John Martillotta led the way offensively with a 1-for-4 day, including a 3-2, two out bases clearing double that busted the game open in the fourth. 

Senior INF Dan Zuchowski has a team-high .283 batting average, while sophomore INF Dalton Bollinger trails him with a .270 clip.  Junior RHP Steven Duby is leading the way out of the bullpen with a 0.61 ERA in 14.2 innings over five appearances. 

Notre Dame began conference play last weekend with a three-game series with No. 4 Louisville.  The Fighting Irish were swept by the Cardinals, but played two one-run games, including one contest that went into extra innings.

The contest with Notre Dame will be shown on WatchND and can be heard on WHME 103.1 FM out of South Bend, IN. 

Toledo is back in action over the weekend for a four-game series with Indiana beginning on March 18, 2016 at Bart Kaufman Field.
