TOLEDO, OH - Women's tennis split their first pair of home matches this weekend. The Rockets fell to Illinois - Chicago, 5-2, on Sunday after defeating Youngstown State, 4-3, on Saturday. With the loss, UT drops to 2-4 on the season, while the Flames improve to 2-1.

UIC clinched the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. The sole Rockets victory came from Rani Goodland and Mackenzie Bowman at No. 2 doubles. They defeated Ann-Sophie Hahn and Melika LeBlanc, 6-4.

The singles competition was a tough battle across the board. Sidnay Huck swiftly defeated Oana Manole, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 3 spot, while Colleen O'Brien came away with a victory at No. 2 (7-6, 6-3)after a battle against Hahn. O'Brien swept the weekend with a perfect 2-0 record at No. 2 singles.

Bowman and Emily Mazzola each started their matches with a 7-6 victory in set one at No. 6 and 1 doubles, respectively. Both Rockets slowly lost their leads and dropped each match in three sets. Bowman was bested, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, by Rachel le Comber and Mazzola also fell, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, in an exhaustive battle to Jackie Altansarnai.

The Rockets hit the road in two weekends for a pair of matches against Cincinnati and Wright State. UT faces off against the Bearcats in Cincinnati, OH at 5:00 p.m., before traveling to Miamisburg, OH for a 2:30 p.m. match against the Raiders.
