Pittsburgh, PA – The Toledo women's tennis team lost a dual battle to Duquesne, 5-2, in Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday evening. With the loss, the Rockets drop to 1-3 on the season, while the Dukes improve to 3-0.
UT notched the first point of the day, recording two of the three doubles matches.
The Rocket duo of
Colleen O'Brien and
Megan Miller claimed a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles, while
Lauren Thai and
Claire Aleck paired up to post a 6-3 victory at No. 3.
Aleck recorded Toledo's sole singles victory at the No. 5 spot. Aleck bested Ally Miller 7-5, 6-2.
"I give Duquesne a lot of credit," head coach
Tracy Mauntler said. "They battled all day. We started out really strong and won a tough doubles point, but unfortunately we just couldn't keep it going. We've got a lot to work on and the team is committed to put in the time and practice."
The Rockets host their first home match of the season against Youngstown State on Feb. 6 at 1:00p.m. before welcoming UIC to the Glass City on Feb. 7.
