Valparaiso, IN – The Toledo men's tennis team fell 5-2 to the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday evening in Indiana. UT moves to 0-3 on the season, while Valpo improves to 1-1.
"We took another step forward in our doubles quality," head coach Al Wermer said. "Our serving could've been better in our singles matches. When your serving isn't on, it definitely weakens your chances to win. However, I was really proud of Luka and Serjen tonight."
The Rockets recorded two singles victories. Freshman Luka Vitosevic notched a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) defeat over Valpo's Dave Bacalla at the No. 2 spot.
Freshman Serjen Olmedo fought a hard battle against Kyle Dunn at the No. 5 spot. Olmedo managed to pull away with the victory after coming from behind (4-6, 6-2, 10-7).
Junior Stjepan Sisko and sophomore Omar Espinosa claimed their second victory of winter season at the No. 1 doubles slot. The pair of Rockets defeated Jeffrey Schorsch and Charlie Emhardt 6-3.
The Rockets match-up against No. 8 Ohio State tomorrow evening at 6:00 p.m.
