Cleveland, OH – The Toledo volleyball team had seven student-athletes earn a spot on the 2015 Academic All-MAC squad, the league announced on Wednesday. Lauren Bakaitis, Annie Beasley, Alex Hines, Maggie Johnston, Mary O'Connor, Maddie Strall and Saige Thomas were selected due to their outstanding efforts in the classroom, as well as on the court.
 
This is the second straight season Hines, Johnston and O'Connor have been honored with this award.
 
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests scheduled or completed in the particular sport.  First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
 
Lauren Bakaitis – Sophomore, Biomedical Engineering, 3.893 GPA
Bakaitis is a defensive specialist from Avon Lake, OH who saw action in 19 matches this season. She recorded 1.71 dps and 13 aces on the year. Bakaitis posted a season-high 14 digs vs. Eastern Michigan and tallied three service aces on three occasions.
 
Annie Beasley – Sophomore, Nursing, 3.333
Beasley is an outside hitter from Indianapolis, IN who saw action in 27 matches this season, starting 16. She averaged 1.63 kps and 0.59 bps. Beasley recorded a season-high 12 kills vs. YSU and 11 kills vs. EMU. She tallied a season-high six blocks vs. Eastern and five against Akron and WMU.
 
Alex Hines – Senior, Pharmacy, 3.305
A native of Canton, MI, Hines saw action in 20 matches this season, starting 15 at setter. She recorded a team-high 9.27 aps and 14 service aces on the season. Hines posted a season-high 63 assists vs. Evansville and tallied 40 or more assists in six matches.
 
Maggie Johnston – Junior, Business, 3.600
Johnston is a defensive specialist from Germantown, WI who played in all 29 matches this season and averaged 2.64 dps. She posted a season high 21 digs vs. Bradley and notched 20 against Buffalo. Johnston tallied 10 or more digs in 13 matches and recorded 10 service aces on the season.
 
Mary O'Connor – Junior, Physical Therapy, 3.428
A right-side hitter from Muskego, WI, O'Connor saw action in all 29 matches, while averaging 2.08 kps and 0.34 bps. She posted a season-high 16 kills vs. Evansville and a .433 ATK% (15-2-30) vs. Green Bay. O'Connor notched four blocks vs. YSU and notched 10 or more kills in 10 matches.
 
Maddie Strall – Senior, Physical Therapy, 3.881
Strall is a defensive specialist from Toledo, OH who played in 26 matches and recorded 2.17 dps. She posted a season-high 19 digs against Eastern Michigan and recorded 10 or more digs in seven matches. Strall also notched three kills on three occasions.
 
Saige Thomas – Sophomore, Athletic Training, 3.275
Thomas is an outside hitter from Corpus Christi, TX who started in 28 of the 29 matches this season. She recorded a team-high 2.59 kps and posted 0.45 bps. Thomas notched season-highs of 18 kills vs. Bradley, five blocks against WMU and a .471 ATK% vs. YSU. Thomas tallied 10 or more kills on 15 occasions.
