Corey Brown is in his second season as a graduate assistant on the Toledo staff. He previously coached the defensive backs at Slippery Rock from 2017-18.
A native of Pittsburgh, Brown played defensive back at Ohio State from 2009-13. He was part of Buckeye teams that won the Big Ten title in 2009 and division titles in 2012 and 2013. He started nine games at safety during his senior year in 2013, finishing sixth on the team with 55 tackles. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers before moving into the coaching ranks.
While at Slippery Rock, Brown helped the Rock make it to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Division II playoffs in 2018. Under Brown’s guidance, Slippery Rock defensive backs recorded 17 interceptions and had two players earn all-conference honors.
Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Ohio State in 2014.
