San Jose State - Postgame Notes

Toledo Post Game Notes
Toledo vs. San Jose State
Sept. 16, 2023
  • Peny Boone’s 123 rushing yards was his career high. His previous best was 84 yards vs. Kent State last year.
  • Chris McDonald’s 25-yard pick-six was the second of his career. He also had a 27-yarder vs. Notre Dame in 2021.
  • Quinyon Mitchell broke up four passes, one shy of his career high and giving him 34 for his career, moving him ahead of Mark Herron (32 from 1993-96) for third on Toledo’s all-time list. Mitchell, who led the nation with 20 breakups in 2022, now has six for the season.
  • Dequan Finn ended the game with 4,977 career passing yards, putting him 23 yards away from becoming the 11th quarterback in school history with 5,000 career passing yards.
  • Freshman Emilo Duran punted five times with an average of 45.0 yards per punt, including a season-long 47 yarder. He had punts of 46, 42, 46, 44 and 47 yards.
  • Senior wide receiver Devin Maddox saw his first significant game action of the season, catching four passes for 22 yards. Maddox was injured on the first series of the Illinois game and missed all of last week’s game vs. Texas Southern.
  • Toledo’s 98-yard touchdown drive to end the first half was its longest since a 98-yard drive vs. UMass on Oct. 2, 2021. The school record is 99-yards vs. Northern Illinois on Oct. 17, 2009.
  • The Rockets honored 19 players for Senior Night prior to the game.
  • Senior linebacker Dallas Gant wore No. 98 instead of his usual 19 in honor of his father, Jim Gant, who played at Toledo from 1990-93.
