- Toledo’s 52-32 victory was the largest margin over Northern Illinois since a 70-21 Rocket triumph in 2007. It was their biggest win in DeKalb since a 31-0 victory in 1981.
- Toledo moves to 34-17 all-time vs. Northern Illinois.
- Toledo is 2-0 in MAC play for the first time since it started the MAC Championship season of 2017 with a 5-0 league record.
- Sophomore cornerback Quinyon Mitchell snagged four interceptions, two for first-half touchdowns, tying the school record for interceptions and becoming the first Rocket ever to grab two pick-sixes in one game. The four interceptions were also the first four picks of his career. It was Toledo’s first interception return for a touchdown since Chris McDonald’s pick-six vs. Notre Dame last year. The Toledo record of four interceptions in a game was set by Jerry Palmer vs. Western Reserve in 1950. The MAC record is five interceptions by Dan Rebsch of Miami in a game vs. WMU in 1972.
- Sophomore quarterback Dequan Finn completed 13-of-19 passes for 167 yards and three TDs. He also ran for 32 yards on eight attempts.
- Sophomore wide receiver Jerjuan Newton caught a career-best two touchdown passes. He now has seven in his career. He finished with five receptions for 89 yards.
- Sophomore Jacquez Stuart rushed for 73 yards and one score, one week after tallying a career-high 122 yards vs. Central Michigan.
- Junior defensive tackle Judge Culpepper rushed for one yard for a first down on a fake punt, the first offensive play of his career.
- Redshirt freshman quarterback Tucker Gleason threw for his first career TD pass, a 15-yarder to Jamal Turner in the third quarter.
- Junior linebacker Dallas Gant led Toledo with a career-high 15 tackles.
- Head Coach Jason Candle earned his 49th career victory, moving him into fourth place on Toledo's all-time list, ahead of Frank Lauterbur (48 wins from 1963-70). Gary Pinkel is the all-time lead with 73 wins from 1991-2000.
